This year’s event will focus on “International Doctoral Research and Academic Careers: Research Stays Abroad, Networks, and Career Pathways.”
TUCgraduate Day brings together prospective doctoral candidates, doctoral researchers, postdocs, supervisors and others interested in research careers. It offers participants an opportunity to exchange experiences, develop their academic networks and explore international mobility and career opportunities both within and beyond academia.
Programme
The event will take place on Tuesday, 10 November 2026, from 10:30 to 17:30, at the Zentrales Hörsaal- und Seminargebäude (Orangerie) at Chemnitz University of Technology.
10:30–12:30 | Opening and moderated discussion with early-career researchers
Following a welcome and introduction by Professor Anja Strobel, Vice President for Research and University Development, representatives from different faculties will share their perspectives during the panel discussion “Early-Career Researchers Take the Floor.”
The Doctoral Researchers’ Representation at Chemnitz University of Technology will also be introduced.
12:30–14:00 | Networking lunch
Participants will have the opportunity to meet other early-career researchers, exchange experiences and develop new academic connections during a networking break with lunch.
14:00–15:30 | Beyond Borders: Research, Mobility & Careers
Moderated by Professor Anja Strobel, this session will explore international research experiences, mobility opportunities and academic career development.

16:00–17:30 | Parallel sessions
For prospective and current doctoral researchers:
The PhD Journey from Different Perspectives will bring together academics from different disciplines to discuss doctoral research experiences and perspectives.
For postdocs:
Building Your Career Strategy in International Academia & Beyond: The Lucky Mindset, led by Dr Anne Schreiter, will focus on developing an international career strategy within and beyond academia.
The event will be held in German and English. Each session will take place in the language used in its title.

There is no limit on the number of participants from Across partner universities.
Please note that travel and accommodation funding has not yet been confirmed. Potential financial support is currently being explored within Across, and further information will be shared if funding becomes available.
