UCV: International Conference – “Durable Agriculture – Agriculture of the Future”, 20–22 November 2025.

Hosted by the University of Craiova , Faculty of Agronomy, this major international event brought together partner institutions from seven countries—University of Craiova (Romania), “Konstantin Preslavsky” University of Shumen and Technical University of Varna (Bulgaria), University of Madeira (Portugal), Technical University of Moldova, Marmara University (Turkey), and University of Banja Luka (Bosnia and Herzegovina)—in a joint effort to explore innovative and sustainable solutions for the future of global agriculture.

Structured around the central theme “Agriculture, Forestry, Food Security and Health: Climate Change, Risks and Responses”, the conference offered a distinguished academic platform for the exchange of ideas, the consolidation of international partnerships, and the advancement of research in areas essential to global sustainability.

A hallmark initiative of the Across Alliance, the event further reinforced the shared commitment to fostering academic excellence, cross-border cooperation, and the development of resilient educational ecosystems within the European Higher Education Area. Our mission in higher education is to provide students with a genuinely European learning experience, addressing the specific challenges faced by border regions through collaborative and interdisciplinary approaches. The conference addressed a broad range of thematic areas essential to contemporary agricultural sciences:

Section 1 – Plant Cultivation and Technologies of Animal Husbandry:
Grassland and pasture science, fruit growing, viticulture and oenology, vegetable cultivation, floriculture, ornamental plants, landscape architecture, animal genetics and breeding, animal nutrition, reproduction, physiology and anatomy, machinery and installations for animal husbandry, agro-food processing technologies, agroecological innovation and systemic resilience, as well as agricultural and horticultural biosystems and biological engineering.

Section 2 – Soil and Crop Sciences:
Soil science, agrochemistry, agrotechnics, soil improvement, crop biomass and biofuels, organic farming, ecological agriculture and horticulture systems, waste management and alternative energies in agriculture, agricultural biotechnology, environmental biotechnology, biotechnology legislation, and plant crop biology.

Section 3 – Environmental Science and Plant Management:
Ecology and environmental protection, botany, plant physiology, biochemistry, biodiversity conservation, genetics and plant breeding, crop genetics and genomics, phytopathology, entomology, microbiology, forestry sciences, forest ecosystems, agroforestry, climate change and future challenges, water resources management, and natural and cultural heritage.

Section 4 – Management, Agricultural Mechanization and Cadastre:
Management and economics of rural areas, environmental economics and bioeconomy, digital economy and innovation in modern agriculture, precision farming, agricultural and horticultural equipment, constructions for agriculture, horticulture and forestry, transportation systems, cadastre and terrestrial measurements, irrigation systems and equipment, and urban landscape architecture.

Section 5 – Food Security and Health:
Nutrition and food security, food quality control, public health, wildlife management, fishery and aquaculture, food biotechnology, food- and biotechnology-related legislation, GMO legislation, and food security challenges in the context of drought and future climate uncertainty.
