Students participating in INSPIRO 2.0 – Innovative Student Projects in Research and Artistic Environments presented their interdisciplinary group projects, hosted for the first time by various schools and research units across UNG. The INSPIRO 2.0 project is funded by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation as part of the national measure “Additional activities for talented students.” Four outstanding proposals were selected through a competitive call, each addressing phenomena through both scientific and artistic perspectives.

This year, the INSPIRO 2.0 symposium took place under the auspices of the ACROSS European Cross-border University Alliance, of which the University of Nova Gorica is a member. The event was organised within the framework of Team Task 2.2, which aims to develop activities—such as workshops, interviews, and panels—that actively involve students and external experts to identify transformative characteristics for a student-centred design approach.

Student presentations included:

  • Momir Trifunjagić (UNG FH), Tilen Curk (UNG FZO) & Gašper Rebernik (UNG AU)
“Krasna si, bistra hči planin in toksinov…”: A visual-ethnographic study of the environmental impacts of industrial heritage in Kanal ob Soči
  • Tobias Fürst Črtanec (UL FMF) & Tilen Lajevec (UNG AU)
Through the Feelings of Stars: Follow-up Study of Variable Stars and a Search for Cepheids with the GoChile Telescope
  • Emilija Vučićević (UNG FH)
Connections Between the Emotional Intensity of Letters and Transcription Performance Using HTR Methods: How Does the (Un)Readability of Emotions Sound?
  • Matevž Gros (UNG PTF) & Vanja Miloš Jovanović (UNG AU)
A Short Documentary on Human–Robot Collaboration
  • Amalija Rafaj Škriljevečki (University of Graz)
Determination of Stellar Distances with Gaia Data

The symposium also featured a dedicated presentation by Amalija Rafaj Škriljevečki, this year’s recipient of the Alumnus Primus and Alumnus Optimus awards and a graduate of UNG’s School of Science, who is currently pursuing her master’s studies at the University of Graz.
