“Preparing the application was challenging and without the broad support of colleagues involved in the international task teams, we would not have been able to achieve this outstanding quality”. (Maximilian Eibl, VP for Academic & International Affairs, Chemnitz University of Technology)

The Across Alliance has joined the European University Initiative, thanks to a successful application for the Erasmus+ “Partnerships for Excellence” funding line. With a funding commitment of 14.4 million euros from the European Commission, we are poised to advance our collaborative efforts significantly.

Over the past four years, our universities have collaboratively developed a robust strategy for EU-level cooperation, realizing numerous exchange formats, including summer schools and staff and student mobilities. This recent funding will enable us to deepen our strategic initiatives further.

Selected Objectives for 2025-2028:

  • Expand Cooperation: Strengthen collaboration across all higher education levels.
  • Internationalisation and Digitalisation: Promote sustainable and inclusive teaching, training, and research.
  • Joint Study Programmes: Develop diverse joint teaching opportunities, including Summer Schools, Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs), COILs, Micro-Credentials, and Joint Degrees.
  • Cross-Border Engagement Centres: Establish hubs for cooperation between academia, business, and civil society.
  • Transnational Graduate School: Provide structured qualifications for Masters and PhD students.

Background: European Universities Initiative

Launched in 2019, this flagship initiative of the European Higher Education Strategy now encompasses 64 alliances, including over 560 institutions from across Europe. It aims to enhance international competitiveness and promote European values and identity through long-term, strategic cooperation.

We will officially start work in January 2025. Until then, partners will work together to ensure a quick and effective start. Stay tuned for more updates!
