UCV: Innovation and Collaboration within the ACROSS Alliance

The University of Craiova continues to establish itself within the European University for Cross-Border Knowledge Sharing (ACROSS) network through initiatives that promote creativity, applied research, and international cooperation.

On July 4^th/strong>, 2025, at the Faculty of Automation, Computers, and Electronics, a team of master’s and PhD students represented UCV at an dedicated to developing an innovative scientific article recommendation system. The competition brought together eight teams from five European universities—including Chemnitz, Udine, Girona, Ruse, and Nova Gorica—offering young talents the opportunity to test their skills using artificial intelligence tools. The event was supported by academic staff and Netrom Software, a strategic partner of UCV.

Another ACROSS initiative was the Science Beyond Disciplines project, where participants, including faculty members from the University of Craiova and the University of Perpignan, had the chance to present scientific papers from fields such as mathematics and computer science.

Also within the ACROSS alliance, the European Think Tank was launched in Craiova—a reflection institute dedicated to cross-border cooperation and the exchange of ideas between academia and local communities. This new center will analyze common socio-economic issues in areas such as education, social development, cultural heritage, and natural resource management.

Through these projects, the University of Craiova confirms its active role in the ACROSS network, alongside partner universities from Germany, Italy, Spain, Bulgaria, Slovenia, France, Poland, and Bosnia-Herzegovina—strengthening a European academic community built on innovation and collaboration.
