The AquAcross Aquatic International School 2026 is organized by the University Perpignan Via Domitia (UPVD) within the framework of the Across European University for Cross-border Knowledge Sharing.

Audience:

The Summer School is open to:

  • PhD students specializing in marine/aquatic biology, ecology, oceanography, marine environmental sciences, freshwater ecology, parasitology, and vector-borne diseases.
  • Master’s students with a strong interest in these fields.
  • Priority is given to students from the nine Across Alliance partner universities : Chemnitz University of Technology (Germany), Bialystok University of Technology (Poland), University of Udine (Italy), University of Nova Gorica (Slovenia), University of Banja Luka (Bosnia and Herzegovina), University Perpignan Via Domitia (France), University of Girona (Spain), University of Craiova (Romania), “Angel Kanchev” University of Ruse (Bulgaria). Though the program is open to motivated applicants from any institution worldwide.

Prerequistes: No strict prerequisites are required. However, students should have: Coursework in aquatic ecology, climate change, marine/freshwater biodiversity. Field experience in marine settings (e.g., diving, monitoring).

Basic knowledge of bioinformatics and statistics.  Fluency in english, no translation provided.

Students must be able to swim and feel comfortable snorkeling.

Capacity: 11 participants per week.

Cost: Across university students are exempt from tuition fees. The program provides accommodation, full board, and covers all academic costs. Participants handle their own travel to/from Perpignan.

For external participants (not coming from an Across university), tuition fees apply (300 EUR) covering all academic costs.

Participation Format: To ensure smooth operations and optimal conditions, each week is limited to 11 participants. Registration options include:

One week

Two consecutive weeks  Three weeks

Note: Non-consecutive weeks (e.g., Week 1 + Week 3) mean no accommodation is provided for unattended weeks (e.g., Week 2).

Certificate: All participants receive an official completion certificate.
