The Università degli Studi di Udine hosted a special event dedicated to promoting women’s participation in STEM fields, gathering around 70 participants.
The initiative, promoted by the Equal Opportunities Committee (CUG) of the Università degli Studi di Udine within AcrossTask 1.4, provided a valuable moment to reflect on the role of women in science, highlighting both the challenges that remain and the opportunities for future generations.
The event showcased the university’s social media campaign launched on 11 February for the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, which collected video testimonials from students, researchers, lecturers, and professionals working in scientific disciplines.
After the opening remarks by Vice-Rector Giorgio Alberti, the initiative was presented by Laura Zanin, President of the Equal Opportunities Committee (CUG), together with Caterina Mazzanti, coordinator of AcrossS Task 1.4, and Caterina Giacomini from the External Relations Office.
Participants also had the opportunity to hear an inspiring testimonial from astrophysicist Gabrijela Zaharijas from the University of Nova Gorica, who shared insights from her international research career and emphasised the importance of role models for young women in science.
The event concluded with the award ceremony of the first edition of the “Confagricoltura Donna FVG” Degree Prize, introduced by Paola Giovannini Pasti, celebrating female talent and academic excellence.
Through initiatives like this, the Across Alliance continues to promote inclusion, equal opportunities, and the visibility of women in research and innovation, inspiring the next generation of scientists.
